Cultural Guides Committee
Our Artistic Director, Rhoda Roberts AO; Artistic Associates, Marilyn Miller and Raymond Blanco; Executive Producer, Merryn Hughes; and Cultural Producer, Lydia Miller, work closely with the dedicated team of Cultural Guides. The Cultural Guides Committee is made up of leading First Nations Elders, arts practitioners, Cultural Lorekeepers, and experts in diverse fields of professional practice. Together, they represent the First Nations and clans of the Gimuy/Cairns footprint and surrounding region; overseeing all aspects of Shine On Gimuy Festival so they are Culturally safe and relevant to First Nations' histories, protocols and the world today. Our Cultural Guides Committee currently represents the Yidinji, Gunggandji, Djabugay, Kuku Yalanji, and Mbabaram peoples.
We thank former Cultural Guides, David Hudson, Sandra Levers and Teho Ropeyarn, for their dedication/support over 2023/24.
